Happy Holidays All!

I must say that I am truly amazed and humbled by the support and positivity toward my (self admitted) unique style of photography. I am so glad that so many people are enjoying what I love to do. The Comments mean a lot to me and validates the beauty that I have always attributed to these places. I will respond to everyone's individual questions, but may take a few days...... there are quite a few! I will hopefully be able to wonder around some new cemeteries over the holiday break and add some new pics.
Thank you to all those who have sent me their own "favorite" burial grounds, they will certainly have a visit from me!

If you want to join the mailing list with updates and new info, please send me a message directly from my website. ALL MESSAGES TO ME ARE PRIVATE and I will NEVER use them for SPAM or sell your emails....... its not how I do things!

For as long as I can remember, I have always found cemeteries to be beautiful, serene and inspiring. This helped steer me to my 17 year career as a funeral director and embalmer. I enjoyed every day I was able to be paid to do something that I loved and received unmatched fulfillment from. Unfortunately, a back injury ended my fairy tale career path.
In the time since, I have rediscovered the art and science of photography. During my high school years, I loved all aspects of photography, from taking photos to developing my own film and printing my own shots. As college, career and family took up my time; photography took a back seat............ until about a year ago.
I naturally began "dusting off the photo cobwebs" in a setting in which I felt comfortable and knew the beauty that was just beyond the scope of the casual observer....... my beloved cemeteries.
By chance I had posted some of my unique photos online and the response was tremendous. The amount of feedback and support ignited a spark in me. Needless to say, here I am.
My passion is to capture the beauty of these sacred places which comes in all shapes and sizes. I especially am thrilled when I am fortunate enough to capture the pure energy of a site, a true testament of the lives that these physical monuments represent.

I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I have taking them.

I see you live in CT. You would love the South!!! I live in GA. We have some very beautiful cemeteries. One I plan on trying to visit is Bonaventure in Savannah!! I would also like to visit the cemetaries in New Orleans. I love photography of any kind basically. So this inspires me. Like you picture description says, there is beauty everywhere!!! Sometimes you just have to look beyond the obvious!!!

Great work! It's always great to find other photographers who have similar interests. I'm based in Philadelphia and have recently found like minded cemetery buddies here. Check out the work of Ed Snyder and Frank Rausch. Both are on FB and Ed has a wonderful blog, The Cemetery Traveler.
I am including a link here to my website: http://web.me.com/restinpixels. Although most of my images are from Scotland, I have been recently taking photos here in the states. Recently, several of us here in Philly have been going out together on photo excursions to various graveyards. Fun stuff!
Keep up the great work. I will check in to see what new images you post.
Best wishes for the New Year!

Jamie, you do fabulous work peering through time capturing the beauty of each stone, representing places of bodily rest...... the beauty, individuality, and natural surroundings. Looking forward to more of your work.

I, too, share your passion of the beauty of gravestones. I've been photographing cemeteries for over 30 years, but only as a hobby. Not many have responded positively to the beauty that I have captured! I've been able to photograph in England, Salem and smaller cemeteries in Indiana. It's nice to see someone shaves this love! You have many lovely photos.
